Description

Intelligent Energy Europe III is a successor of Intelligent Energy Europe II, a programme aimed at helping organisations willing to improve energy sustainability. It supports energy efficiency and renewable energy policies with a view to reaching EU 2020 energy and climate targets.

Objectives

Contribution to the removal of market barriers that obstruct the efficient use of energy and an increased use of renewable energy sources.

Details

IEE III will focus on three areas:

  1. Technical support for specific activities promoting efficient development and implementation of EU policies and legislations on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.
  2. Capacity-building, addressing public acceptance, knowledge transfer and skills improvement;
  3. Provision of financing to mobilise investments and make energy efficiency and renewable energy projects bankable. This will be via provision of project development assistance, ‘business’ and ‘investments’ capacity building and dialogue with project promoters, policy makers and investors/financiers. Specific attention will be given to the retail financial institutions and market-based financing mechanisms.
